LuckyLand Slots, one of the best-known sweepstakes casinos in the US, closed in North America in September 2026. Its owner, VGW, wound the site down in three stages over six weeks.
The shutdown timeline
| Date (2026) | What happened |
|---|---|
| August 3 | Gold Coin purchases stopped |
| August 24 | Gameplay ended |
| September 14 | Prize redemptions closed and the platform shut down |
Balances could not be transferred to other VGW brands, so players had to redeem eligible Sweeps Coins before September 14.
Why it closed
VGW has been pulling back under the pressure of state bans. It has exited at least 12 states since 2025, including California, Tennessee and West Virginia. At the same time it launched LuckyLand Casino, a newer brand focused on table and live dealer games, and announced a further brand, United Slots.
The best LuckyLand Slots alternatives
LuckyLand stood out for two things: 10 free Sweeps Coins on sign-up and a low 50 SC cash redemption. These casinos come closest.
Zula Casino: the same 10 free SC
Rolla: an even bigger free welcome
Chumba Casino: LuckyLand's sister site
Chumba is run by the same company and has the same simple, no-code welcome. Its cash redemption minimum is higher at 100 SC.
