Sweepstakes casinos are closing faster than ever. New state bans, rising compliance costs and tighter enforcement pushed dozens of brands to shut down in 2025 and 2026, some with a few weeks' notice and some with none at all.
If you searched for a promo code and ended up here, the casino you were looking for may no longer be running. This page tracks the major closures, what happened to players' coins, and where to play instead.

What happened to players' Sweeps Coins?
It depends on how the casino closed:
- Planned closures usually give a short window, often 7 to 15 days, to submit redemption requests. LuckyStake gave six days after gameplay ended, and LuckyLand Slots gave three weeks.
- Mergers sometimes move your balance to a sister site. SweepNext moved players to LuckyStake, but LuckyStake later closed too.
- Sudden closures are the worst case. The Money Factory shut down without warning, and reports say players were left without a way to redeem.
Gold Coins have no cash value, so they are always lost when a site closes. Only redeemable Sweeps Coins matter.
What to do if your sweepstakes casino closes
- Redeem eligible Sweeps Coins straight away. Deadlines are short and unclaimed prizes are usually forfeited.
- Complete identity verification now. A redemption cannot be paid until KYC is approved, and that can take days.
- Screenshot your balance and any pending requests in case you need to follow up.
- Contact support in writing (email) so you have a record.
- Be careful with "migration" offers. Only move your account to a sister site the casino itself names in its official notice.
How to avoid being caught out
- Verify your account early and redeem regularly instead of letting a large balance sit.
- Favour established operators. Brands that have run for years under the same company have a track record of paying.
- Watch state law. Most closures follow new bans. Oklahoma's ban starts November 1, 2026, and several brands have already left the state. See our legal states guide and the 2026 bans explained.
- Be wary of brand-new sites with no track record. Start with a small redemption to see whether, and how fast, they pay.
Established sweepstakes casinos to play instead
These have been running for years under well-known operators.
Chumba Casino: running since 2017 under VGW
Stake.us: one of the biggest sweepstakes casinos

Frequently asked questions
Why are so many sweepstakes casinos closing?
Mostly because of new state bans and enforcement. States such as California, New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, Tennessee and Oklahoma have banned sweepstakes casinos, and operators also cite rising compliance costs and legal uncertainty.
Is SweepNext still open?
No. SweepNext closed and moved its players to LuckyStake, which itself closed on August 14, 2026, with a redemption deadline of August 20, 2026.
Did The Money Factory close?
Yes. The Money Factory shut down on August 9, 2026, reportedly without warning. Players with balances should contact its support by email.
Can I get my Sweeps Coins back after a casino closes?
Only if you submitted a redemption request before the deadline, or if the casino says it is honouring balances. Unredeemed coins are usually forfeited, so redeem as soon as a closure is announced.
